Pantheon Phantasma Dependance
This double exhibition was a response to the urgent quest for new forms of shared life and communal sense of belonging within the frame of Passagen 2020/IMM Cologne. Spanning across two locations, the show brought together 29 artists and designers to develop contemporary ceremonial objects and performances in order to build spaces beyond traditional exhibition contexts.
In his publication “Vom verschwinden der Rituale” the philosopher Byung-Chul Han holds the disappearance of ritual spaces and actions accountable for collective disorientation and increasing societal and individual isolation. To conquer present pathologies and to be able to feel at home in a fast-paced world, he argues, we are in the need of new narratives.
